Support Employee Mental Health in Real Time

Mental health in the workplace is a growing concern for many companies. Employee mental health spans emotional, psychological, and social well-being. When any of these areas falters, it directly affects productivity, morale, and retention.

Employers need a solid strategy

Most companies aren’t equipped to handle mental health and substance use issues on their teams. Employers must have an effective plan to address these risks to health and well-being. A key element of this plan: upskilling staff to act effectively in a mental health emergency at work.

Mental Health First Aid training is part of the solution

Mental Health First Aid training from Â鶹TV gives your team members the tools to identify and respond to peers who are facing challenges. Mental Health First Aid is like CPR training, but for mental health or substance use. The training teaches your employees how to have conversations around mental health, respond to a crisis, and provide their peers with appropriate resources.

Why does my business need Mental Health First Aid training?

When the impacts of stress, depression, substance use and other conditions become too much, employees often struggle at work. Without the right support, their performance and behavior suffers–and their team feels the impact, too. Untreated mental and behavioral health conditions can seriously affect employee morale and the culture in your office.

Let’s look at what’s happening in our community and around the country:

  • 81% of people in a survey said they would look for mental health support in their next job.
  • Santa Clara County considers mental health and substance use public health crises.2
  • Suicides in the Santa Clara County have increased in recent years.

The right community partner can help your company address your team’s mental health needs–both now and in the future.

Does the training work?

Mental Health First Aid training has been available for more than 20 years, with millions of graduates around the world. People who take the course:

  • have better understanding of mental health
  • are able to support people facing challenges with mental health
  • have a more positive attitude toward people with mental health conditions
  • are able to be more supportive toward people with mental health problems

Our company has an Employee Assistance Plan. Why do we need Mental Health First Aid training?

Despite their advantages, employee assistance programs weren’t designed to support employees in real time or provide extended support. Mental Health First Aid teaches team members to respond quickly in a crisis, and to support colleagues who might otherwise not seek out help.
